Mustafa Hussaini (born November 22, 1983) is a native Iraqi who became an American citizen, an employee of the United States Capitol Police, while in Syria. The Washington Post reported that Hussaini, identified as an Iraqi diplomat, spent about 10 days in Syria. He was subsequently detained by U.S. authorities and subsequently returned to the United States.
On February 10, 2017, the FBI arrested Hussaini at the Iraqi Embassy in Washington, DC. He has been indicted for allegedly conspiring to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization.

Hussaini was born in Baghdad, Iraq in 1983.
Hussaini earned a B.A. from George Washington University in 2005.
Hussaini later served as a law enforcement fellow at George Washington University in 2011.
Hussaini worked at the University of Maryland as a fundraiser for George Mason University.
He worked for the Congressional Research Service from 2009 to 2011.
Hussaini was briefly the Iraqi embassy’s deputy chief of mission.
His name was included on a State Department report about service in Iraq, dated November 10, 2008.
