Dusty is a free simple, small utility that can show windows of open programs as a separate window. In previous versions, you had to run a program called Focus to activate a functionality that already exists in Windows. Dusty is made in C# and was published in 2007.

Starting from version 2.0 Dusty can run in two modes: with a single window per user, or a single window per application. Using a single window per user allows you to show all open windows of all users at the same time. Using a single window per application, allows you to show open windows of the particular application. In addition, Dusty doesn’t show empty desktop (if you don’t have any windows of other applications).

When using the single window per user, Dusty has to scan all open desktop windows to show them. This takes a lot of time for slow CPUs and all open windows are shown one by one. But using the single window per application, Dusty just changes the window title of the visible window and already open application is opened. That’s why Dusty is much faster than other tools like “Open desktop applications as Windows”.
